| Welcome to the
website of Doug and Judy Decker! We are cruising aboard the sailing vessel LIMERENCE.
After retiring from jobs in Wisconsin, selling our home and cars, and bidding farewell to
family and friends, we were truly footloose and fancy free to begin traveling on our
sailboat. We lived aboard for two years in San Diego while outfitting our 1985 Beneteau
375. We cast off the dock lines in the fall of 2000 to join the Baja Ha Ha cruising rally
to Cabo San Lucas Mexico |

Our first year was spent sailing down the Pacific coast of Mexico and
Central America. We stopped in Costa Rica for five months and then continued on to Panama,
transiting the Canal in January 2002. Once in the Caribbean, we cruised along the coast of
Panama staying three months in the exotic San Blas Islands. Next stop was Cartagena Colombia
for six months before circling back to Panama. And finally, we sailed up to Honduras and
through the Northwest Caribbean on the way to Florida.
After refitting Limerence in Fort Lauderdale, we shipped her to the
Balearic Islands of Spain, and sailed to Barcelona for the winter of 2003-4. The following
summer found us coastal cruising Spains Costa Brava and the French and Italian
Rivieras, concluding in Rome Italy for the winter of 2004-5. The next spring we cruised
Italy south through the Messina Straits to Sicily, and up to the Adriatic Sea to Croatia,
Montenegro and Albania, putting Limerence on the hard in Corfu Greece for the winter of
2005-6.
On this
website youll find travel logs, photos of our cruise and people we've met, and
articles about our inland trips. As an aid to cruisers, we have written port area guides
for Jaco Costa Rica, Panama City/Colon Panama, and Cartagena Colombia, which can be
downloaded. Detailed Mediteranean weather sites can be accessed by selecting
WEATHER on the side menu. There is also a section describing the changes and
upgrades we made to our Beneteau to get it ready for cruising. Check out the web links
section that includes Seven Seas Cruising Association. The organization is a huge resource
for cruisers. If you have comments wed love to hear from you. Drop a note in our
Ship's Log Book.
Our 2006 cruise of the Mediterranean Sea continues as we sail the
Islands of Greece to the Corinth Canal and the Aegean Sea enroute to the Bodrum Pennisula
of Turkey. We plan to keep Limerence in Turkey as our boating home base for the next
several years. Well continue to stay in touch through our travel updates. Ciao for
now! |
